Be still, and know that I am God

‘Be still, and know that I am God.’  Psalm 46:10

Today I want to just ‘be still’ and know this awesome God.

I am amazed once again by the wonder and the awesomeness (not sure that’s a word!) of God.  I am so amazed that I can’t even find the words to express how I feel.  But then I know we can’t really describe God.  But we can know Him, through the Lord Jesus Christ.  And He is a God who is always good, and One who so often surprises me by being so interested in the smallest details of my life.

Yesterday we had a very powerful message from Wim Mauritz in Gillingham.  He reminded us that we should ‘shout aloud’ the good news we have.  The good news from a good God, who loves us so much that He gave His only Son to die on a cross for each one of us.  Wim reminded us that we have so much to ‘shout about’.  And today I want to do just that.  I want to shout about the goodness and the wonder of God.  A God who is soooooo great, but who is also interested in every detail of our lives.

As I’m writing this on the ‘howdoiknow’ website, I want to ‘shout about’ a personal example in connection with the books I have written.  If you had told me five years ago that I would write books which would be read in places like India, Japan, Brazil, Australia, Canada, America and all over Europe, I would simply have laughed.  Laughed at the thought of being an author, and laughed even more at the thought anyone would want to read my books!

But today, I believe this God of surprises has made this happen.  The boy with the small loaves and fishes comes again to mind.  If we give what we have to Jesus, however small we think that is, then He can work the miracle.  He can, and does, do far more than we can ever think or imagine.  Ephesians 3:20

So today, I want to point again to this wonderful God.  The One with whom each of us can have a personal relationship, if we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

I also want to say a big thanks to everyone who follows this blog, comments on it from time to time and sends me emails.  Your thoughts and comments encourage me and teach me.  Thank you.

Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention – the next book in the BSBP series (a short, simple Bible study for the Gospel of John) has been published.  The Gospel of John is a wonderful, wonderful book about a wonderful, wonderful God.
